NY Times Adds Free Film and Theater Reviews Archives

Though I still wag my finger in a disapproving manner regarding the NY Times’ policy of charging for access to stories over one week old, I stand up and applaud two new resources they have just made available.

The Times now offers over 5,000 movie reviews from its pages, including all reviews since 1983, and a variety of search and browse methods, including by title, year, genre, reviewer, country of origin. There are also sections for all Best Picture Academy Award winners, a list of the 1,000 Best Movies, and a current releases section. Wow.

A similar section on theater reviews is also up, joining the book review archive (since 1996) that was already up. This is exceptional – bravo.
