NAB Show 2025: NAB Plans to Hit It Out of the Park with AI and Sports

The National Association of Broadcasters annual trade show will take place April 5 to 9, 2025, in Las Vegas, with a focus on artificial intelligence and sports programming. Just when I thought the tech world’s AI obsession was over, NAB still has it in focus, just like last year.

And if you’re a sports fan, the broadcast industry is seeking new ways to enhance your enjoyment of whatever game you love to watch. ESPN, NFL and WWE personalities will be coming up to bat on the Las Vegas Convention Center stage to discuss coming innovations.

Artificial Is Fun

One of the highlights for me at last year’s NAB Show was Ameca, a wisecracking AI robot. Ameca assured last year’s audience that she had not been sent from the future to kill Sarah Conner and that AI and humans were better off together. She may have been right as this year’s schedule is full of AI innovations.

According to an industry survey, the percentage of broadcasters worldwide now using artificial intelligence has more than doubled over the last 12 months. Twenty-five percent now employ this technology. Discussions at the NAB Show will illustrate the new uses and explore concerns and issues that many broadcast professionals still have about this technology.

Topics to be covered include the use of AI in video production, enabling multilingual content, and whether AI can be used to inspire human creativity without bad consequences. If you are curious about AI and want to see it pushed to the limits, the NAB show will be worth checking out.

And just in case AI doesn’t interest you, NAB will have sessions on that AM-FM radio in your car. It can be important in emergencies and disasters. There will also be a live session broadcast from the International Space Station.

Batter Up

If you watch ESPN at all, you’ve probably heard of Stephen A. Smith. He stars on ESPN’s First Take and hosts The Stephen A. Smith Show. He also has author credits with the New York Times bestseller, Straight Shooter.

Smith will be on stage during the welcome session on April 7. He’s expected to share his experiences spanning over 30 years in sports and entertainment. He likely will talk about the changes in the media landscape, sports broadcasting techniques, and his personal journey to becoming one of sports entertainment’s most influential voices.

Other sports influencers who will speak at this year’s NAB show include WWE President Nick Khan, WWE chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, and 13-year NFL veteran and Super Bowl champion Jason McCourty. Topics for these experts will range from the integration of new technologies to the development of engaging on-air talent.
