Not since Stevie Ray Vaughan has a true-blue blues guitarist captured a mainstream audience the way Bonamassa has.

In just over one year's time, JB's dropped three tremendous releases to the masses: 'Blues of Desperation,' 'Live at the Greek Theatre,' and now 'Live at Carnegie Hall.'

These are in no particular order, except for this first one, my vote for song of 2016, at least for guitar. After listening to Joe Bonamassa's blistering, searing solo, you will not forget it anytime soon.

As for the music of 2016, there was the usual amount of "meh" mixed in with a host of impressive releases. Certainly, there were no game-changers that I heard. (Sorry Kanye and Kendrick.)

Bonamassa and his band fire on all cylinders on this live 2-CD or 2-DVD set. Recorded, amazingly, at a single sold-out Los Angeles concert in 2015, the selections pay tribute to the three "Kings" of the blues: Freddie King, Albert King, and Bonamassa's mentor B.B. King.

The 1st Indie Blues Awards winners were announced on Wednesday, June 15 at Darwin's in Marietta, Georgia.

If you don't love "No Good Place for the Lonely," you don't love the blues. That song alone is worth the price of Bonamassa's latest full-length.
