Lollapalooza 2004

Is it me or is Lollapalooza getting a really late start this year? It’s almost April and they don’t even have a website or a full lineup to announce yet. This is the first press release I have received on it:

Lollapalooza 2004 Runs With the Gypsies for First ever 2-day Traveling Music Festival

Morrissey, String Cheese Incident, Sonic Youth, Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, and Polyphonic Spree are just a taste of this year’s Main Stage

Perry Farrell and the organizers for Lollapalooza 2004 are gathering so many vital artists for this year’s traveling caravan; they can’t fit it all in one day! Thusly, Lollapalooza 2004 – in it’s 9th Year – has emerged as the first 2-day music festival on wheels. Morrissey, String Cheese Incident, Sonic Youth, Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse and Polyphonic Spree are just a taste of what this year’s Main Stage has to offer. More incredible artists joining the line-up, full routing, and special guests will be announced in the coming weeks.

Lollapalooza 2004 offers the freshest new talent side by side the pioneers who inspired them. Over the course of 2 days, this festival of festivals will share the most vibrant personalities of a pulsating indie subculture to thousands of the music loving community this summer.

Lollapalooza 2004 will not only bring a plethora of talented artists to fans, but with lower ticket prices will create an opportunity for the masses to travel with and participate in cutting edge technology and culture, mass gaming, increased environmental consciousness, political awareness, and the opportunity to affect change in a positive way.

“This summer, Lollapalooza will embody the spirit of the Gypsy! Our buses of artisans sleeping over in each and every city will spread the sense of exhilaration. The days and nights will be filled with mischief.” – Perry Farrell

“The spirit of the Gypsy!” I assume he means this in a good way.

My thoughts on the first Lollapalooza are here.
