American Idol: Tamyra to Act?

Variety reports:

“American Idol” finalist Tamyra Gray could soon be returning to Fox — as an actress.

The singer, whose early elimination in the competition generated howls of protest from viewers, is talking to the producers of Fox’s “Boston Public ( news – Y! TV)” about coming onboard for a multi-episode arc. Meetings are in the preliminary stage, but given TV’s quick turnaround capabilities, it’s not impossible that Gray could pop up as soon as November.

Gray’s recording career is also on track. “Idol” producer Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment has already picked up its option to represent Gray and is working on inking her to a recording contract.

All of the top 10 “Idol” finalists, including Gray, have been in Las Vegas this week taping a concert special set to air on Fox Monday. They launch a national concert tour on Oct. 9 in San Diego.
