Like many Americans, some say at least 70 percent, I probably couldn’t find Moldova on a map and no know very little about the country, which gained its independence in 1991. But I am certainly well aware of them now as the home of Exclusiv alcohol products. Since 2003, they have been selling their wares in the United States, though currently in a limited number of states. The company’s website is able to direct visitors to the nearest location where their products can be bought.
Exclusiv Vodka, distilled from wheat, is 80 proof and was recently awarded a Double Gold Medal in the 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It’s easy to understand why as it has a great clean taste that goes down smooth, whether chilled or at room temperature.
Moscato Sparkling Rosé Wine, which became available in the United States last summer, earned an 85-point rating and ‘Best Buy’ award from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. It is cultivated from the Muscat grape and offers an inviting, fruity bouquet. Though it tastes sweet, the wine is very dry, so the flavor doesn’t overwhelm the palette, which I appreciate as someone not a fan of things overly sweet. The wine has an alcohol content of 10%.
Both Exclusiv products are very reasonably priced, each selling at less than $10.00 a bottle, yet they don’t taste like bargin alcohol. The company’s website offers recipes for drinks, shots, and making bacon-infused vodka for those who don’t get enough meat flavor in their alcohol. Exclusiv vodka also comes in fruit-flavor varieties like Orange and Raspberry.
