A truly dreary update, a new puzzle game and some Fallout DLC just doesn't excite.

PlayStation Network Update: 10/08/2009

I was going to apologize for being late, instead I am going to apologize for the update itself! We have no newly digitized PSP games (aside from a new release), no deals of the week, overpriced themes and pay for cheat codes. Sigh, not a great followup to last weeks huge update.

At least we do have a newish game in the form of Critter Crunch. This original puzzle game is colorful, looks fun and features co-op and multiplayer action. We also have the final two DLC packs for Fallout 3, the creepy Point Lookout and alien themed Mothership Zeta. The PS3 version is now caught up the other guys and future DLC (if any) is fair game on both platforms. Lastly we have a curiously small add-on for IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey, at 100 Kb are we paying ten bucks for content on the disc?

Speaking of poor choices, there are two $5 add-ons (and I use the word loosely) for Dirt 2. Yes, why play the game when you could pay for all the unlockable cars and areas? An overpriced Tiger Woods 10 course rounds out the cash grabs of the week.

As promised new releases are going to be digital and UMD (in most cases) with NBA 10 THE INSIDE and NBA LIVE 10 released for the PSP digitally. Oh yes we also have a bunch of themes for a couple of bucks each for the person who has too much money.

All in all a very disappointing update after the huge and satisfying one we had last week. Hopefully next time will be better. For more details, please visit the official PlayStation Blog.

'Risen 3: Titan Lords' is a flawed, but deep pirate-themed, action roleplaying game. While the new Enhanced Edition's release lacked much fanfare, it is a significant upgrade. Unfortunately, the game still lacks the polish required for wider appeal.
