Country and Americana

Seneko's music is gently steeped in a concoction of varied flavors. The end result is pretty darn good.

On their latest EP the band offers innovative melodies different enough to make them uniquely attractive, while simultaneously providing potent rhythms.

I really like 'Preaching to the Choir.' It is mainstream pop in flavor and color, but different and refreshing.

There's a feeling of fine control you get when you listen to a Kim Richey album. Her songs dig outward in two directions from country/americana, into both folk and pop. And her silvery vocals, burnished with a constant, cool vibrato, lack twangy affectation, sounding almost weirdly non-manipulative – to paradoxically emotional effect.

The combination of syrupy, swampy blues and superbly talented musicians gives the music an irresistible tang.

The misery factor is contagious, leading the listener down into the abyss of calamitous unhappiness.

'Little Boat' is a good album. Mathur’s voice is at its best when darkly inflected with down and dirty tones.

'Green' delivers eloquent lyrics, along with generous doses of subliminal sonic flashes, making it one of the better folk-pop albums I’ve heard in quite some time.

I recently reviewed Eric Anders’ latest album, called 'Eleven Nine,' which is an anti-Trump concept album. Intrigued by the sentiments expressed in the lyrics of the album, I decided to interview Eric. I wanted to know more about his motivation for the album, as well as his songwriting process.
