Now this is pretty cool, think I may break down and give it a go my own bad self:
- Cakewalk and Microsoft Windows XP have joined forces with some of the biggest bands on the Lollapalooza 2003 tour to give you the opportunity to show off your skills creating the hottest new style of remix – the mashup.
A mashup is an emerging style of remix that combines elements from two or more songs, along with your own creative input, to create a new and exciting track.
We’re making loops available from Jane’s Addiction, The Donnas, and Jurassic 5, along with a 60 day trial version of Cakewalk Music Creator Pro and some bonus loops, giving you everything you need to create your own mashup.
When you register to enter the contest, you’ll get access to these tools and loops. You then have until August 14th to create your own mashup combining elements from all three tracks using Music Creator Pro (or other Cakewalk software that encodes to Windows Media 9). You can then upload your submission in Windows Media format for entry into the contest.
Here’s the best part, you also have the opportunity to gain national recognition and win some cool prizes. Perry Farrell (yes the Perry Farrell) will be personally selecting the winners, and he will play and introduce the winning track at the final Lollapalooza show.
