Maroon 5 returns to the music scene with a catchy new song just in time for summer.

Maroon 5 Release “Misery” From Upcoming Album

Maroon 5 lead singer, Adam Levine has a knack for writing sad songs that make you dance and sing-a-long. Maroon 5's latest single joins the club as it impacts radio this month.

“Misery," the first single off Maroon 5's latest album, Hands All Over (due out September 21) joins the ranks alongside their mega-successful hit, “This Love” as one of the band’s catchiest songs about love gone wrong.

At first listen, the song sounds very similar to one of their more recent hits, “Makes Me Wonder,” which was the lead single off their sophomore album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long. There are pieces of the melody that sound pretty uncanny at times.

However, once you get past the melodic similarities, it’s clear why “Misery” was chosen as the lead single. The tune about the guy wanting his girl back is perfect for summer. The song is upbeat, peppy, and the beat may lead you to forget what the lyrical content is about. The chorus is catchy and after a few listens, it will probably get stuck in your head for hours.

It’s not Maroon 5’s strongest song ever. I think in the past, they have put out stronger songs as lead singles, but after waiting three years for new music I find myself with the rest of the band’s fans just chomping at the bit over this new song.

I do think that “Misery” will do well and will probably find success on the radio just like the majority of the band’s past singles have. The term “radio-friendly” definitely comes to mind with this song.

The music video for “Misery” will be debuting on MTV and VH1 on July 1. Maroon 5 will be performing on The Today Show on July 2.
