We have some very exciting things coming up - please check it out.

Blogcritics News

Thanks for all of your tremendous input regarding the site design, layout, etc. You are really a bunch of smart people and I am privileged to work with you. We have really made great strides in just one month! And look over to your left just above “Your Blogcritics”: we received the Yahoo Pick of the Week Award for entertainment. This is something you can all take great pride in.

The final (for now) site design is a combination of what has gone before with special new help from Kenan Hebert. There are still several additions and changes to make, but we should be somewhere near normal by tomorrow. Those of you waiting for your passwords to join – thanks for your patience – you’ll be on by tomorrow also.

I will finally get to your CD, book, DVD, etc requests with the labels, publishers, etc., tomorrow also. It’s been a very wild week. Please fell free to scan the upcoming/new releases and let me know what you’d like to receive at any time. I’ll try to work on them once a week.

NEW BLOGCRITICS: since we have turned a corner, we are ready to add a new batch of Blogcritics. I think we can handle about 50 more, so if you are interested please send me an email indicating your name, your blog name and URL, and your general interests. We would like you to post to Blogcritics once a week, and would expect you to post at least once a month.

The real beauty of Blogcritics has turned out to be the variety of voices singing on such a variety of popular culture topics from such a variety of perspectives: from the most mainstream to the most obscure, we are at least touching upon it. It’s been great so far.

Remember – don’t be shy about promoting your own site. At the bottom of every post say something about your blog and link to the sucker. This is all about exposure and traffic. I enjoy having a few thousand people a day (and growing) checking out what I have to say. I hope you do too – then send them back to your site for more.

THE NEXT STEP: We are going to blatantly steal a really good idea from Andrew Sullivan and start our own book/CD/DVD/whatever club. I am looking for suggestions as to how to operate it exactly, but the idea is to pick one book per month (could it be more often?), a CD a week, a DVD a week, etc., and have a Blogcritic act as Lead Critic for that project, invite our readers to buy the product, absorb it, then join in a big mass blab led by our Blogcritic on that topic.

I think it could be really fun and really involve our readers. What do you think?

Have a safe and thoughtful 9/11.
