In a celebrity packed extravaganza, the 33rd Annual American Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on ABC, November 22.
Pop divas, Sheryl Crow, Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan are the most recent performers added to the line up that already included such names as Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, The Rolling Stones, Rob Thomas and Keith Urban.
Hosted by Cedric “The Entertainer,” the show also boasts a long list of celebrity presenters including, Lance Armstrong, Nicole Richie, Phantom of the Opera’s Emmy Rossum, American Idol”s Ryan Seacrest, and Jake In Progress’ John Stamos.
Awards will be presented in Pop/Rock, Country, Soul/Rhythm &Blues, Rap/Hip-Hop, Latin Music, Contemporary Inspirational, Adult Contemporary and Alternative Music.
Mariah Carey leads the pack with the most nominations, four total, including Best Female Artist and Best Album (For The Emancipation of Mimi). She was given the nod in both the pop and R&B categories. Other noteworthy mentions are Kelly Clarkston, Green Day and 50 cent with three nominations each.
Nominations for the American Music Awards are determined strictly on record sales, the winners are then chosen by a survey of approximately 20,000 listeners.
