Jazz pianist and NPR host Marian McPartland turns 85 with a smoking hot party tomorrow night in NYC:

AN 85th BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE TO THE
GRAND DAME OF JAZZ
WHO: The legendary pianist/composer/educator/radio host and all around
jazz ambassador Marian McPartland, joined by her friends Karrin Allyson,
Barbara Carroll, Regina Carter, Bill Charlap, Ravi Coltrane, Dave Douglas,
Jon Faddis, Nnenna Freelon, Jim Hall, Jackie King, Jason Moran, Chris
Potter, Loren Schoenberg, Curtis Stigers, Dr. Billy Taylor, Clark Terry,
George Wein, Phil Woods, and more. Peter Jennings will host and comedian
Alan King will also make an appearance. Marian will perform with her guests
featuring two different rhythm sections: bassist Bill Crow and drummer Joe
Morello, and bassist Gary Mazzaroppi and drummer Glenn Davis.
WHAT: A star-studded performance celebrating Marian McPartland¹s 85th
birthday, 65 years in show business and 25 years with both NPR and Concord
Records. Portions of the show will be taped for broadcast on NPR in June and
will be hosted by Charles Osgood, produced by South Carolina Educational
Radio for “Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz,” NPR’s longest running cultural
program.
