Apple fans everywhere are buzzing with the release of the latest version of the MacBook. In February, Apple announced that it was applying the finishing touches. Then, last month, the 12-inch MacBook became available online. Fans had been awaiting both the newest version of the 15-inch MacBook Pro and the 13-inch, but this new MacBook throws an attractive wrench into the question of which Mac to buy.
As with every new edition of the famed laptop, there are several improvements to this model, including in both appearance and functionality. It’s important to note right off that despite the obvious changes, some claim that there wasn’t enough done to improve the beloved computer. Still, there are a few things worth mentioning with the latest design. Here are a few of the updates with the newest MacBook.
Critics are calling it the smallest MacBook to date, but the power and RAM aren’t lacking. Apple has somehow figured out how to slim down the MacBook to 75 percent of the 11-inch Macbook Air’s thickness without losing any power. It also only weighs two pounds, making it the perfect notebook for college students, and the lightest full-power MacBook on the market.
The frame isn’t the only thinned feature on the newest MacBook. The keyboard is also almost half as thin as its predecessors, and that’s saying something for the already thin Mac keyboard. The key caps are also a lot closer together. Furthermore, each key features its own LED lighting, rather than a single light at the top of the keyboard for illumination. This creates even lighting across the whole keyboard. Early users are claiming that the thinner keys make it easier to type, since it’s a little more like a traditional laptop.
Shorter Name and Multiple Colors
This computer that functions very much like a MacBook Pro is actually just the MacBook, as Apple decided to drop the last part of the name. It seems that the full name was too much for such a small computer.
This version also comes in a variety of colors, steering away from the traditional silver Apple fans are used to. You can get the newest MacBook in gold, silver, and space gray.
One of the most exciting features as far as functionality goes is the new trackpad, which offers force click technology. This allows the user to click anywhere on the pad rather than only on one side.
It also features a simplified “double-click” option. Instead of clicking twice on a folder or icon to open it, Mac users can simply hold down their click, and the extra pressure will register as a double click, performing the command with ease.
The specs are what makes this machine so great. Despite its tiny size, it features full power, including a 1.1 GHZ Intel Core M Processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of flash storage, and the OS X Yosemite operating system. The newest processor means that MacBook can operate without a fan, making it basically noise free, and virtually eliminating overheating problems.
Furthermore, the newest MacBook boasts nine hours of web browsing battery life and 10 hours of movie playblack. All of this can be enjoyed on a Retina display with a resolution of 2304 x 1440 at 226 billion pixels per inch, according to Apple.
The basic version of this MacBook can be purchased for $1299 in the Apple store.[amazon template=iframe image&asin=B00VSB0CB2][amazon template=iframe image&asin=B00VSB16BW][amazon template=iframe image&asin=B00VSB2AIA]
