Snoop Lion, the iconic recording artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg, has recently released a music video for “Smoke the Weed.” The song, which features a guest appearance by reggae artist Collie Buddz, was pulled as the latest single from the album Reincarnated. The album marks a departure from the former Dogg’s trademark hip hop style, venturing into reggae and dancehall.
Reincarnated was commercially well-received, hitting number one on Billboard’s Top Reggae Albums chart when first released in April, 2013. It entered (and peaked) at number 16 on the Billboard 200. Reincarnated is currently in the running for Best Reggae Album at the upcoming 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony.
The video for “Smoke the Weed” was directed by John Mazyck and includes cameos by Snoop Lion’s son Corde (“Spanky Danky”), Daz, Kurupt, Curren$y, Mac Lucci, Suga Free, Mister Cartoon, Estevan Oriol, and Dead Prez.
Don’t miss The 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards live on CBS, January 26, 2014.
