Return o the Sonic Yoots

I love the band name “Sonic Youth” because these guys are older than I am so maybe I can be “Scribe Youth,” or something, into my dotage.

Anyway, the Youth are coming back with Sonic Nurse (“to my head, to my head, rock and roll nurse going to my head”) on June 8. they are running an iPod contest here:

Sonic Youth’s new album, Sonic Nurse, hits stores June 8th and we’re celebrating by giving one lucky winner an Apple Mini iPod! Called “the world’s greatest punk rock jam band, AND MORE!” by Spin Magazine, Sonic Youth throws down what may be their heaviest classic yet.

Listen to the first single from Sonic Nurse, “Unmade Bed” and Enter to Win!

Not sure about that description – far too arty to be a punk band, more like “art noise” or some other such appellation, but groovy and enduring nonetheless. Good luck figuring out those guitar tunings, by the way. that’s one way to cut down on the covers.

Check out the “Unmade Bed” single, (Windows, Real), it’s quite beautiful in a moody, wavery, watery kind of way, with Thurston on vocals and an odd chopped rhythm. More on the album as soon as I get it.

The Youth will also be on the Lollapalooza tour this summer. Forever young.
