Previewing San Diego Comic-Con 2019: Saturday

The 50th Comic-Con International will commence in two weeks so the entire day’s programming is now being made available on their website, giving attendees the chance to start planning their activities. The more interests one has the more difficult it can become, especially if those interests are popular. Here’s my Top 5 panels I hope to attend (in chronological order):

ENTER THE STAR TREK UNIVERSE PANEL (11:30am – 1:00pm, Hall H) – Am curious to see what’s new in the TV component of the Star Trek franchise as CBS All Access presents panels with cast members and producers to discuss Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard starring Sir Patrick Stewart, and the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks.

SESAME STREET’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY PANEL (2:45pm – 3:45pm, 6BCF) – While getting to see the folks behind Muppry characters, such as Big Bird, Grover, and Elmo, will be fun, it’ll be a real treat to see Sonia Manzano (“Maria” from Sesame Street) in person.

SCOTT SHAW!’S ODDBALL COMICS! LIVE (4:00pm – 5:30pm, 7AB) – Cartoonist Scott Shaw! long-running panel, which includes crotch-centric” issues of Superman’s Girl Friend, Lois Lane and Silver Age issues of Batman and Detective Comics with “Robin-in-the-corner!” are always a riot.  Doesn’t feel like Comic Con, if I miss this.  Glad to hear that the panel is becoming a book published in 2020 by TwoMorrows.

MARVEL STUDIOS (5:15pm – 6:45pm, Hall H) – Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige will be on hand to provide a look at what’s to come for the Marvel Cinematic Universe now that Phase Three as come to the end.  Hoping for news rather than just going over what’s already been announced.

WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS (FX) SCREENING AND Q&A (6:30pm – 7:30pm, 6BCF) – The best show on television last year was this was this mockumentary about four vampires living together based on the cult film of the same name by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi.  The cast and creative will be on hand for a screening and discussion
