A minimal but decent week on the PlayStation store, interactive Killzone 2 ad being the highlight.

PlayStation Network Update: 04/02/2009

Weird day on the PlayStation Store. There are some great freebies and a new game, but not terribly much to get excited about. The big thing I was anticipating is the FREE interactive Killzone 2 ad. The real-time generated bullet ad is available in controllable mode with commentaries. Move the camera angle, zoom, change effects and see how real-time this great ad is.

A new game is available in the form of Comet Crash, a really interesting take on tower defense that adds some RTS hooks like counterattacks and dynamic enemies. Looks interesting if a little old school, and I’m looking forward to some reviews. I would have appreciated a demo, but one isn’t on hand.

Qore arrives again this week and as a thank you to PSN users it is free; that is good, since the content looks exceptionally weak. They needed to come out with an outstanding episode if this was a way to attract new subscribers. Other free DLC is a map pack for the Red Alert 3 Ultimate Edition game.

More questionable paid DLC is on-hand: the cute but relatively useless Patapon pack for LittleBigPlanet, another lame Pain character and the standard Rock Band/Guitar Hero updates. For whatever reason, the only songs that I found interesting where the SpongeBob songs for Rock Band … blame it on the kids I guess.

A minimal week, but some strong material for us to enjoy. Below is a list of all the items added to this week's PSN update. For more details, please visit the official PlayStation Blog.
