It's our first New Album Release column of the new year but there isn't much being released that's actually new. The main event this week are several re-issues of albums released by MCA-affiliated artists, or artists who released albums for that label at one time. Steve Earle, Howlin' Wolf, The Jackson 5, and Weezer are just some of the artists whose albums are being re-issued with rarities and additional cuts.
As for new albums, former American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee is releasing a new album, which she discussed with Blogcritics writer Clayton Perry. Also out with a new record this week is Ke$ha. I don't know anything about her other than she has a single that's been cleaning up on the iTunes charts for weeks now and this record is probably going to do big numbers in 2010, at least for a little while.
Here's to hoping for more inspiring releases in the coming weeks…
