Blues and Christmas come together in this new single by Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen's new group Delta Deep, which also includes Rob DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots.

Music Review: Delta Deep – “Take Me Home for Christmas” Single

Delta DeepDef Leppard member Phil Collen (guitars) is the mind behind the band Delta Deep, which brings together Rob DeLeo (bass), Forrest Robinson (drummer), and Debbi Blackwell-Cook (vocals). Following their debut full-length self-titled album, which debuted in second place on the iTunes Blues chart, the band released at the end of November a brand new song for the holiday season titled “Take Me Home for Christmas”.

The track will sound quite familiar to fans of the project; the mid-tempo blues number is soothing and uplifting, embracing listeners into its warm embrace much like a well-organised, yet low-key Christmas get-together. Between the thick bass line from DeLeo (of Stone Temple Pilots fame), the solid guitar work, the supporting drumming, and the sultry, smoky vocals, one can easily tell that the band is having a lot of fun. This gives listeners the feeling that the song was created out of appreciation for the holiday season than for cheap, gimmicky purposes, which comes as a breath of fresh air in the current trend of over-commercialisation.

The track is available on YouTube. More information about the band is available on both their official website and their Facebook page.
