Menards is among the largest chain retail home improvement and building supply stores in the U.S. It is a popular destination for those interested in doing home improvement projects.
Menards is a privately-held company headquartered in Wisconsin, where John Menard, Jr. opened his first lumber store in the early 1960s. The company now has dozens of stores in a dozen states in the Upper Midwest. The chain helped create somewhat of a popular culture icon with a spokesman who became known simply as "the Menards guy." It also has a well-known jingle, "Save big money at Menards."
Menards also sponsors race cars on both the NASCAR and Indy Racing circuits. One of the NASCAR drivers is Menard's son, Paul.
