Tegan Marie is a young country singer from Grand Blanc, Michigan. The talented 13-year-old has been involved in a lot of projects, including a stop last month on the 2017 Music in Our Schools Tour in support of music education. She took the stage at DAR Constitution Hall last year during an all-star tribute concert for Smokey Robinson in Washington, D.C.

What’s one thing you love about your music and performing?

Music is my life and it really is so amazing to be able to share my life stories through music. I am honestly the happiest when I am performing. I will sing to anyone who will listen to me.

Digital Journal picked you as a Female Singer to Watch in 2017. What does it mean to you garnering these accolades and recognition already?

It is such an honor. I’ve been so grateful for everything that has happened this past year and I am so humbled for that type of recognition. Can’t wait for what the rest of 2017 holds!

What do you have lined up for 2017?

New music will be out soon, shows, and so much more. I’m so excited for 2017!

Please tell us more about your single, “Lucky Me.”

“Lucky Me” is about both me being so lucky to be able to do what I love every day, and also about anyone from anywhere being able to follow and live out their dreams no matter who they are or where they’re from. Also, 100% of the proceeds go to the Hurly Children’s Hospital for the children who have been affected by the Flint water crisis.

Aside from your original tracks, you do lovely and inspiring covers. Is there a song you’d like to cover or an artist you’d like to work with?

First off, thank you! Honestly, there are so many amazing artists I would love to work with, like Chris Lane, Kelsea Ballerini, Hunter Hayes, Zac Brown, etc. I would also love to cover so many songs, but I’ve recently been mainly focused on writing my own originals. I can’t wait for everyone to hear everything I’ve been working on!
