Googel

Googel is the name of a muppet that appeared on the popular educational children's television show, Sesame Street. Googel was a monster who appeared in a segment of the show called “Monster Clubhouse” from 2001 to 2003. He and other characters from the clubhouse are also part of a children’s software program called Sesame Street Monster Clubhouse.

Given his limited stint on the show, Googelis likely most popular on the internet as a misspelling of the term “Google,” the massive and popular internet search engine. It can also be a misspelling of the word “googol,” the mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. According to one often cited account, the latter term, not the Sesame Street character, is the origin of the search engine’s name “Google.”
