Fans are on pins and needles waiting for the big Fluke reveal!

TV Review: ‘General Hospital’ – Another Villain Returns

GH logoGeneral Hospital, ABC’s long-running soap opera has been on fire!  It’s no secret that the networks have cut budgets to an all-time low, but that hasn’t discouraged Executive Producer Frank Valentini from pulling out all the stops!  Obviously we all know about November sweeps and this month, things have been revving up!

With Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer, Fluke) sidelined, the storyline of “Who Is Fluke” (aka) “Fake Luke”, has been pushed back a little bit awaiting his return.  However, Head Writer Ron Carlivati isn’t leaving us hanging as the mystery behind “Who Is Fluke” continues.

Enter a plethora of villains who appear to be working together– we learned newly risen-from-the-dead Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) and not-so-ill Jerry Jax (Sebastian Roche) have been conspiring to obtain control of ELQ. What’s interesting is it seems Jerry has no idea Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) had taken over the conglomerate and kicked Tracy (Jane Elliott) out!  If they were working for Fluke, they’d already know this, so what are they up to and who else is involved?

Anders Hove GHAlthough last we heard, Robert (Tristan Rogers) and Anna (Finola Hughes) had possibly killed Faison, looks like my second favorite villain is headed back to Port Charles!  Get ready for the dysfunctional Feuding Faisons! That’s right, Anders Hove (Ceasar Faison) begins filming this week and word has it, will be interacting with several Port Chuckers including Helena, Dr. Olbrecht (Kathleen Gati), Jason (Billy Miller), Sam (Kelly Monaco), Nikolas (Tyler Christopher), Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and a new addition to the cast, Rob Derringer. Exactly how this new character will fit in is anybody’s guess, but if both Helena and Faison are involved, it could be another explosive twist in a storyline that has all fans in a frenzy trying to unravel it!

Who is Fluke and where the hell is Luke?  As previously reported, Robin (Kimberly McCullough) returns and will be the one to find the real Luke, who most believe is still at Miscavage Mental Hospital.  If this is the case, it’s possible that Helena and Faison are holding both hostage.  Another one of my favorites is set to get in the mix— anyone remember the famous phone ring “crazy calling, crazy calling”?  Heather Webber will factor into the story, presumably as she’s still incarcerated at Miscavage.  Will Heather (Robin Mattson) help Robin and Luke escape Miscavage? Lord knows she’s escaped the supposed “maximum security” facility so many times I can’t even count!

Fans are on pins and needles waiting for the big Fluke reveal! I have to give kudos to Ron Carlivati who has masterfully integrated most of the cast into this storyline in one way or another.  One of my biggest pet peeves in the past has been that there were so many mini-storylines, with characters sort of isolated from each other.  The writers have done what fans asked and developed one main storyline, carefully folding in each character in an interesting way.  I’d say General Hospital has the biggest cast on daytime and, while the Fluke storyline has taken a little longer, every single generation is involved– from the kids (Spencer/Emma/Joslyn/Cameron), to Tracy/Patrick/Sam/Jason/Liz, I could go on and on.  It’s been fun watching how each moment connects to the other. Although it is taking longer than intended because of Geary’s medical leave, I can say without a doubt I’m stumped as to who’s the big man in charge!

There is one character that we are eagerly awaiting a return…Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) who had to go into hiding by faking his death, thanks to Julian (William DeVry) naming him as the big boss man in charge of the drug trafficking in town.  Question is, will we see him before Geary’s return?  I think they could definitely figure a way to bring him back early, especially since his daughter Molly (Haley Pullos)  and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) believe he’s dead. He needs to clear his name and nail Julian to the wall!  I guess we’ll have to wait and see on this one.

Since it’s October and General Hospital is teaming with villains, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of Port Charles infamous villains October 22 on RHeart Radio at 10pm (ET).  We’ll chat about some of fan’s favorite storylines and will be taking your calls!  Who do you think Fluke is?  What villain would you like to see return?  Join my new co-host Erika Carle and I as we take a look at our resident psychos, want-to-be world dominators, and mob Godfathers!
