A book that details how to learn the basics of graphic designs.

Book Review: Graphics Essentials for Small Offices by David Loeff

Are you the owner of a small business? Do you blog regularly? Do you have a website? If you answered yes to any of the aforementioned questions, Graphics Essentials for Small Offices by David Loeff is the book for you.

In a previous Blogcritics interview with Loeff, the author spoke about why he wrote his book:

“I wanted to write a book that was both concise and easy to read. I realized that I couldn’t cover every topic, but I wanted to give a broad and practical introduction to graphic design. I haven’t seen any other books that have taken this approach. Most tell you how to use a certain software or how to become a graphics professional. I wanted to write something more broad-based and practical.

Even though I do not own a small business, the book is a handy, practical guide that can help all bloggers and writers who want to become familiar with the basics of graphic designs. I found Graphics Essentials to be very valuable in helping me understand topics such as desktop publishing and photo editing.

All writers, bloggers and website owners will benefit greatly from this handy, practical resource that will help teach them the basics of good graphic designs.
Reading this section on page seven of the book was a real eye opener for me:

“What you say, how you say it, and how your message appears — all contribute to establishing your organizational identity. For this reason, you should establish and maintain a general communication style, composed of both written and graphic components.”

Another thing that caught my attention is the glossary of terms in the back of the book. It is a handy reference one can use to look up definitions of unfamiliar terms.

If you are a blogger, writer, or small business owner looking for an economical way to stand above the rest of your competition, I highly recommend you buying a copy of Graphics Essentials for Small Offices.
