More audio treats from the Goodie Bag.

BC Music Goodie Bag: Oh Captain My Captain, Ferras, Delta Spirit, AC/DC, and Spylacopa

The BC Music Goodie Bag is back again with news, information, tour dates, and some streaming audio from some of your favorite bands (and maybe one or two you've never heard of). Unfortunately, I don't have any embedded video this time, but you can kick back and stream some new music.

Oh Captain My Captain
Joe Bowden is not only the drummer for this hot new Portland, Oregon band but he is co-owner, along with Matt Brown, of the independent record label that has released their first album. Bladen Co. Records was compared to Saddle Creek Records in the sense that both labels are committed to promoting their own local, home-grown talent.

Oh Captain My Captain is just one of those bands. They are making waves with their arena-rock riffs and were described by The 2007 MFNW guide as, "Kinks-ian rock that ranges from upbeat 'n' choppy to downright sweet." But you don't have to take our word for it… or theirs for that matter. Take a listen to the MP3 for the song "On My Mind" from their upcoming album Recklessly She Split The Sea and decide for yourself.

If you like what you hear, you can visit their MySpace Profile page for news, information, and more music.

Ferras – "Liberation Day"
For the video to this single Ferras teamed up with comedian Greg Johnson and it has been taking the internet by storm. Called "Naked Guy Running Across America," it features exactly that – Greg Johnson running in nothing but his socks and sneakers. Since its August 12 debut the video has been viewed in excess of 67,000 times.

Ferras has been seen on NBC’s Today show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and on CBS’ The Early Show supporting the album Aliens & Rainbows, which debuted last spring to critical acclaim.

If you haven't seen this video yet, check it out on either MySpace or YouTube.

Delta Spirit – Ode To Sunshine
Delta Spirit may have just finished up one tour, but that doesn't mean they are ready to stop now. They're heading right back out with Dr. Dog. Their new album is Ode to Sunshine and they are giving the Goodie Bag readers get a free listen to the lead single, "Trashcan."

AC/DC – Black Ice
The lead single from AC/DC's latest is "Rock and Roll Train" and can be streamed at their website.

Black Ice is the first album from the band in eight years. It will be released October 20 and will boast fifteen tracks. The album was produced by Brendan O’Brien and can be preordered at their website and through Walmart, who have the retail exclusive for the release.

The video for "Rock and Roll Train" is set to release early next month and you can be sure the Goodie Bag will have it right here when it does.

Spylacopa – "Bloodletting"
Spylacopa is a new studio project for John LaMacchia (Candiria), Jeff Caxide (Isis), Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan) and Julie Christmas (Made Out of Babies / Battle of Mice) and they have released the first single from an upcoming five song EP. "Bloodletting" can be streamed from the band's MySpace profile.

John LaMacchia comments on the song, "The song 'Bloodletting' was originally written by Greg Puciato. When I heard the demo of the song I was blown away by the chorus. There were all these vocal layers of just screams that sounded like dying banshees. It was an inspiring new step forward for Spylacopa because before this the music we were writing for the project was based mostly on experimental ideas and sounds and a more unorthodox style of writing."

LaMacchia put Spylacopa together in 2000 as a way to work on his experimental and hypnotic compositions. It was long however before all participants realized this was going to be more than just a side project. Their first release was Collective Unconscious on the C.O.M.A. label. In 2005, after some line up changes that included the addition of Greg Pucilato and Julie Christmas, they began work on this soon-to-be released, self-titled EP.
