Pixies to Record Concerts for CD Release

Jumping on the souvenir concert CD bandwagon with the likes of Metallica, Phish, String Cheese Incident and many others, the Pixies will be offering limited edition CDs of their upcoming concerts:

On the upcoming Pixies’ North American “warm up” reunion dates which kick off Tuesday, April 13 at the Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis, the Pixies will be recording every show, and then making a CD of that show available for sale that night. These special limited edition CDs will be titled “Pixies Live.”

The Pixies’ traveling caravan will include a DiscLive truck that will have the capacity to record and manufacture the CDs on the spot. Only 1,000 CDs will be made of every show (2,000 for the May 1 Coachella Valley Festival performance), and when the CDs are gone, they’re gone – no more will be produced.

Point of sale stations will be set up at all tour venues where fans can purchase a voucher before the show begins, then turn in that voucher some 10-15 minutes following the show, at which time they’ll be handed a double CD of that night’s performance, complete with artwork that will include the concert’s date and location. Fans can also opt to have the CD mailed; any CDs that do not sell that night will be available for purchase at DiscLive’s site.

Starting immediately, 500 CDs from all of the upcoming “warm up” concerts can be pre-ordered at the DiscLive site. If all 500 “Pixies Live” CDs from any given show are pre-sold, then only 500 will be available for purchase the night of the concert; pre-orders can be picked up at the respective concert, or mailed to the buyer. All “Pixies Live” CDs purchased at a concert or via DiscLive following a concert will be priced at $25.00; those purchased at the DiscLive site as a pre-order will sell for $22.00, and there will be a two-CD per show per customer limit. Should the buyer choose to have the CD mailed, shipping and handling charges will apply.

So, there are three ways to own these very special, limited edition collectors’ “Pixies Live” CDs – pre-order from DiscLive, purchase at one of the Pixies’ “warm up” dates, or purchase from the DiscLive website following the specific show – if any are left to purchase.
