Dom (Vin Diesel) and Brian (Paul Walker) may have escaped at the end of Fast 5 to a country with no extradition treaty. However, Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) tracks them down and “convinces” them to reassemble the entire team in order to take down an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers lead by Shaw (Luke Evans) in Fast & Furious 6.
Make sure you get to the cinema on time, because the movie gets going from the opening credits, summarizing the previous entries in the franchise. The movie opens in classic Fast and Furious style with Dom and Brian racing down some sharp winding roads to arrive just in time for the delivery of Brian and Mia’s (Jordana Brewster) baby.
Dom assembles his crew and they all meet in the beautiful city of London. Thus begins the chase for Shaw in London and Spain.
Fast & Furious 6 lives up to the franchise. The movie clearly has Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Paul Walker in the driver’s seat (pun intended) who lead a returning all star cast of Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Elsa Pataky. They face-off against series newcomers Luke Evans and Gina Carano.
The plot is some what predictable, but the movie isn’t about the story; it’s about the action sequences. The movie gives you some cool car races, amazing special effects, fight sequences and chase scenes with gorgeous cars and even a tank and a plane. I found the last scene, which involves a gigantic plane too unbelievable, but it serves to bring amazing stunts to you, something that has always been a part of the Fast franchise.
P.S. Make sure you stay back after the credits start. If you haven’t been actively following the press surrounding the movie, you’ll be in for a surprise. I know I was!
Fast & Furious 6 is definitely a must watch movie if you have been actively following the past 6 movies. It continues where Fast 5 left off and sets the scene for Fast & Furious 7. Director Justin Lin won’t be returning for Fast 7, but he does leave the series at its peak. I’m eagerly waiting for Fast 7 which is to be expected sometime next year.
