London, the capital of Great Britain, was founded by the Romans as Londinium in AD 50, then abandoned when they left Britain, but the Saxons set up Ludenwic just north of the old site, and the city has been an important centre continuously since then.
At the centre of the British Empire, it became the world's largest city between about 1825 and 1920. It remains one of the world's most popular tourist destinations.
Bloggers on London may be writing about its cultural life, about being a tourist there, about the 2012 Olympics, about its history and architecture, and even its pigeons.
