india

India is the world's largest democracy, and the planet's most populous country after China. The modern state was created in 1948, when the British colonisers left the region, which was split between India, Pakistan, and what later became Bangladesh.

It is a country that still suffers from high levels of poverty which, combined with a low status granted to women, leads to significant child and maternal mortality. Like its neighbour Pakistan, it possesses nuclear weapons, and it has an active space programme.

Bloggers may be writing about its traditional culture, its religion, and its cricket. Many will be writing about traveling there, or displaying their pictures.
