So what do we have this week? Eminem is once again atop the singles and albums chart, something we’ve seen with regularity since Recovery was released earlier this summer. On the singles chart, Taylor Swift falls from #1 to #5, passed not only by Eminem but also by Taio Cruz, Katy Perry, and Enrique Iglesias.
The Suburbs by Arcade Fire follows Eminem on the albums chart, trailed by Mike Posner and Mumford & Sons. Country star Blake Shelton’s new record All About Tonight makes a Top 10 showing this week as does the latest record from Black Label Society, the brainchild of former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde.
The other story on the albums chart this week is soundtracks. We have three of them in the Top 10: Camp Rock 2, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, and Step Up 3D. The Pilgrim soundtrack is a mix of classic rock (Rolling Stones, T. Rex) and indie hipster fare (Beck, Broken Social Scene, Beachwood Sparks). Camp Rock is the Disney kids while Step Up is more in the hip hop/dance vein.
