Barenaked Ladies Ships & Dip Cruise Being Planned

Barenaked Ladies, according to the band’s podcast are planning their first ever fan cruise.

The band has not officially confirmed dates of BNL: Ships and Dip but an announcement is imminent according to guitarist Ed Robertson.

Ideas being floated for the cruise include full-band shows as well as acoustic mini shows and some alternative setups showcasing some of the different bands within the band: keyboardist Kevin Hearn’s Thinbuckle, bassist Jim Creegan’s band with his brother Andy (Brothers Creegan) and Steven Page’s side project The Vanity Project. Frontman Page said there will also be some type of insane karaoke night.

In addition to the several different performance types and configurations the band is considering songwriting workshops and informal jam sessions.

Robertson said the band hopes bring Guster as well as other bands along for the ride. Robertson said in addition to giving fans a dream experience they hope to highlight some of the environmental practices of the cruise industry.

Other bands have done this type of cruise package such as Sister Hazel, Dave Matthews Band, and Flaming Lips.

Robertson made the announcement in the seventh episode of the bands “Barenaked Ladies Studio Podcast” which can be subscribed to using Apple’s iTunes service.
