Two video samples from this brand new album.

A Sampling of Old Californio’s Westering Again

If you were one of the lucky who had the foresight to give old Californio’s debut release Along The Cosmic Great a chance, then you know what a treat they are. On these pages is a second chance at luck – two video clips previewing cuts from their April 7 release Westering Again.

In the guitar driven melodies you’re bound to hear those they name as influences: Moby Grape, The Grateful Dead, and Quicksilver Messenger Service. Listen a little closer and you’ll hear a fusion of old country and folk that gives these tracks a sound all their own.

Recorded in a chicken coup turned recording studio in Pasadena, CA, Old Californio shares production credits on Wrestling Again with Alfonso Rodenas. A quick look at the players and their instruments gives you a sense of how deep and complex their sound really is. Rich Dembowski lends vocal and guitar talent while Justin Smith plays drums. On bass is Jason Chesney and the guitarist is Woody Aplanalp. Levi Nuñez is the keyboard player. Also contributing are Dave Gleason, Tony Russell, Tala, Slim Zwerling and Dan Mudd.

So, kick back and enjoy the videos below and decide for yourself. Personally, I’m sure you will be going to your favorite on-line retailer about as fast as your fingers can take you there.
