2007

2007, the year that was for bloggers: in January, Romania and Bulgaria joined the European Union; in February the United Nations concluded that humans were causing global warming; in March, Lewis “Scooter” Libby, former chief of staff to the U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney was convicted on several counts; in April, a student killed 30 in a shooting spree at Virginia Tech university; in May, Nicholas Sarkozy was elected president of France; in June, Robert Zoellick was appointed to head the World Bank; in July, the United States agreed to supply India with nuclear fuel; in August, Thai voters agreed to accept a new constitution; in September, the Burmese junta savagely repressed democracy demonstrations; in October, the exiled leader Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan (and was assassinated two months' later); in November, Cyclone Sidr devastated Bangladesh, and in December, Vladimir Putin's United Russia won a comprehensive parliamentary election victory.

And of course much more happened…
