The View

Broadcast on ABC, The View is an award winning daytime talk show conceived and produced by Barbara Walters. It debuted August 11, 1997 and includes (often heated) roundtable discussions, celebrity interviews, and informative segments on topics deemed important to women. The panel was originally moderated by Meredith Vieira and included panelists Joy Behar, Star Jones, Debbie Matenopoulos, and Walters.

Over the years, The View has garnered more mainstream media and blogosphere attention over the incompatibility and disagreements between panelists. Rosie O'Donnel stepped in as moderator when Meredith left the show, but left before the end of her contract after a very public argument with current panelist Elizabeth Hasselback. O'Donnel's replacement – Whoopi Goldberg — has also gone toe-to-toe with Hasselback on differing political views. In October 2007 it was rumored Hasselback, who is seen as the sole conservative in a sea of liberals, would be leaving next.

As of 2007, the show has won four daytime Emmys.

Concert Review: Trio Wanderer Play Schumann, Liszt, Ravel at Bargemusic

The French ensemble played a muscular concert of Piano Trios by Schumann and Ravel, along with Liszt's weird and wily "Tristia – La Vallée d'Obermann" and an invigorating encore by Lili Boulanger.
