Taylor Swift is the country music artist, born Taylor Alison Swift on December 13, 1989. Though born in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, her family later moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee so she could pursue her songwriting/performing aspirations.
Only seventeen when she signed to Big Machine Records (2006), she quickly became an idol among the teen set when her self-titled premiere album debuted later that year. (It was reissued in 2007.) Driven by the success of its first single, "Tim McGraw," the album was certified multi-platinum as of 2008.
Taylor Swift was recognized in 2007 when the Country Music Association bestowed it's Horizon Award on her. She was also nominated for a Grammy in 2007 for Best New Artist. In 2007, she joined with Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen and launched a campaign protecting children from online predators. Through her shining achievements, however, she received blogosphere (and celebrity gossip) notoriety for her short-lived relationship with Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers.
