As of late I’ve been finding myself struggling with two games. Not struggling in terms of making sense of why anyone would make them, but rather in the more literal, “my goodness how do I beat this title... or even just this level” sense.

This is an amazingly fun game, one which offers just about everything a player could want from it. But the bugs. The bugs are a problem.

One of the more pleasant surprises at PAX East was checking out a small but beautiful game called The Riftbreaker.  Made by a Polish group called Exor Studios this game had a lot of tweaks to the base building strategy game formula. Set on a distant planet called Galatea 37 …

'The Swords of Ditto' is a game worth checking out for its original concept, hilarious scenarios, and just plain fun gameplay.

It is a great notion, but it doesn't work in reality.

'Agents of Mayhem' has some great ideas, but this fun open-world mashup of 'G.I. Joe' and 'Overwatch' is held back by repetitive levels and dumb enemies.

Even after the story is finished, hours and hours can be spent going back to old areas and completing tasks that were impossible earlier. I can't imagine wanting to do that, but it is there.

Elite Dangerous has tapped into that freedom but added mechanics, gameplay, scenarios and a truly organic galaxy that really pulls you into the game and universe.

'Access Denied' isn’t my favorite chapter, but at this point, TellTale has a firm grip on the series. I can also appreciate the game’s return to a focus on the group’s relationships, even if it probably won’t change what happens in the upcoming finale.

TellTale's 'Batman' stumbles when the action gets going, which makes pulling off a superhero game awfully difficult, but it's their storytelling that keeps fans coming back. Despite being a somewhat slow burn, Episode 1: Realm of Shadows offers a compelling narrative, so far.
