Song Premiere: Elisa Peimer – ‘I’m Gonna Start’

Acclaimed pop-folk singer-songwriter Elisa Peimer returns May 1 with Navigator, her first new release since her 2016 album Inside the Glass. The new six-song project leads off with the infectious single “I’m Gonna Start,” and we’re honored to premiere the track today.

“‘I’m Gonna Start’ was inspired by just too much media consumption,” Elisa explains. “I realized all the news I was being bombarded with every day was seriously affecting my overall state of mind. When I stepped away from all that bad news, I felt my mood lift – when I walked outside in nature, when I listened to music, when I connected to my friends and family. I wanted to remind myself to turn off the news and spend time doing the things that make me happy. And I think now that’s more important than ever.”

About Navigator, she says, “The songs on this album were written during a time of transition. I was spending a lot of time figuring out where I wanted to go with my life – what was important to me. And I wanted to acknowledge that it was OK to spend some time not knowing. Sometimes pausing for a moment and reevaluating what your priorities are allow you to truly listen and understand yourself. I was also spending more time writing on guitar rather than keyboard, as a way to reinvigorate my creative muscles.”
