There are now more rules for men who want to see women take their clothes off- particularly if they plan to pay for the… privilege?
The Seattle City Council has passed a new ordinance with new restrictions/guidelines for patrons of strip clubs within the city according to an AP wire report on ABCNews.com.
The ordinance imposes the following rules:
- Dances must remain four feet away from patrons to be enforced with a railing.
- Brighter lights will be required throughout the club
- Direct tipping of the dancers (tipping that requires/allows for contact between the stripper and the patron) is not allowed.
hard difficult to choose just one absurdity about which to write.
If one is of the opinion that strip clubs are immoral it seems silly that the Seattle City Council is trying to find a way to make its dens of iniquity less sinful.
These regulations seem even sillier if one is of the opinion that consenting adults should be left alone to do as they please.
And then there is the in between. Let me see if I understand… it is OK for women to take their clothes off for money and it is OK for men to watch as long as they pay. They cannot hand the women the money or tuck the money in any undergarment she might still be wearing. The lights have to be bright and the men better have good vision because the front row just got moved back and a railing is now going to be installed.
The Seattle City Council does not seem to have a problem with the naked women but instead with the clothed men. Objectifying women is permissible as long as it is done from a safe distance. Go figure.
Determining what is absurd in this situation is not difficult. Discerning what is not absurd is.
