samantha ronson

Samantha Ronson has had many gateways to fame: sister of famed DJ/producer/musician Mark Ronson, step-daughter to Foreigner guitarist/producer Mick Jones, as singer/songwriter/DJ in her own right, and most recently, for being tabloid darling Lindsay Lohan's girlfriend.

Ronson, who grew up in London with her family, including sister and fashion designer Charlotte Ronson, has always been involved in music in one way or another. Having Mick Jones as a step-dad and Mark as her brother forced her hand in picking careers. Ronson began writing songs after teaching herself guitar (given to her by step-dad Mick) during college.

Ronson, with the help of Duncan Sheik recorded some songs and was eventually signed as the first "rock act" to Roc-a-Fella records (owned by rap artist Jay-Z and Damon Dash). Samantha's song, "Built This Way," was featured on the Mean Girls soundtrack, the film written by SNL's Tina Fey (who was also in the film) and starred her future girlfriend Lindsay Lohan.
