Just kidding: Bo will be on tour with American Idol all summer regardless of what happens tonight.
Nonetheless, the most narowly defined reality show yet is coming to CBS beginning July 11, Rock Star: INXS, which will be hosted by former Jane’s Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist and current Carmen Electra husband Dave Navarro, and Brooke Burke , host of E!’s Wild On, Rank and Life Is Great.
Rock Star: INXS — produced by the creator of Survivor, Mark Burnett — will “combine the world of rock music with unscripted drama, performance competition and a weekly contestant elimination determined by a combination of viewer participation, judges and INXS band members” to find the new lead singer of INXS, and will embark on a worldwide concert tour with the band and will sing on the group’s new album. INXS has used “guest vocalists” since singer Michael Hutchence killed himself in 1997.
The show will air three times a week and begin with 15 contestants: Monday will focus on contestants’ relationships and activities, while Tuesday and Wednesday will feature the competition and who goes home.
The show will have an online presence as well. Launching in June, the MSN Rock Star: INXS site will “extend and enhance the show for both the contestants and the audience by taking fans backstage and giving them a VIP rock star experience through video, content and communication tools,” according to a release.
Among the site’s offerings will be, the latest information and gossip from the show, video performances from the show, exclusive content filmed specially for MSN, custom playlists from the contestants and INXS band members, blogs from members of the show, fan chat, merchandise, polls and quizzes.
