The PS2 continues an amazing run with several music titles and exclusive titles as well as multi-console offerings this holiday season.

Strong music (SingStar Pop Vol. 2) and exclusive (Yakuza 2) games combined with multi-console titles like Mercenaries 2: World in Flames and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed have kept Sony’s Playstation 2 console going strong right into yet another holiday gaming season full of varied titles.

This season, PS2 players can benefit from the release of even more several high profile, multi-console platform games including Tomb Raider Underworld (Dec. 8), Sonic Unleashed (Nov. 18), LEGO Batman, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (Oct. 21), Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (Oct. 28), Shrek's Carnival Craze (Oct. 28), and Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant(Oct. 7).

Other unique multi-console games coming to the PS2 include Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? (Oct. 20), Bigfoot: Collision Course (Oct. 14), the simulation game Monster Lab (Nov. 5), the puzzler Pipe Mania (Sept. 30), M&Ms Adventure (Nov. 18), Monopoly (Oct. 20), the shooter History Channel: Civil War – Secret Missions (Nov. 4), and Martial Arts: Capoeira (Oct. 27).

Music is alive and good with Guitar Hero World Tour (Oct. 26) with complete band or complete guitar versions. Players can get another Rock Band Track Pack (Vol. 2) on October 3 or wait until November 18 for Rock Band 2, also available in special edition. The SingStar series expands to Country and Legends on October 28. Disney Sing It (Oct. 7) features the best tunes from the Mouse House while High School Musical 3: Senior Year (Oct. 28) also has a mat bundle to get players moving.

PopStar Guitar (Oct. 28) follows a garage band template with career mode for single players and mini game and co-op mode for multiple players. Rock University Presents The Naked Brothers Band: The Video Game (Oct. 20) combines managing and stage production elements to the standard music features.

Fighting fans get treated with two compilation titles – Mortal Kombat Kollection (Sept. 29) and King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga (Oct. 21). Dynasty Warriors 6 (Nov. 18) jumps back to the PS2 with exclusive content while Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World (Nov. 4) represents the final PS2 installment of the series.

The PS2 exclusive Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain of Memories (Dec. 2), a remediation of the GameBoy Advance game, offers new content and a bridge between the first and second Kingdom Hearts installments. The RPG/board game combination Dokapon Kingdom (Oct. 14) also features and four player gameplay and “friendship destroying” actions.

Think Fast (Oct. 21) tests player’s mental and physical reaction times in the Disney realm while Hasbro Family Game Night (Nov. 11) has a compilation core hosted by Mr. Potato Head. Dog Island (a.k.a. Hitsotsuno no Hana no Monogatari) jumps over to the PS2 on October 7. The follow-up to Ben 10: Protector of Earth, now in PS2’s Greatest Hits, releases on October 28 and is titled Ben 10: Alien Force — The Game.

Call of Duty: World at War – Final Fronts (Nov. 11), offers WWII combat situations while the Army Men game series gets another installment with “Soldiers of Misfortune” (Oct. 14) creatively utilizing more toys as weapons.

Role playing fans should take note of the fourth Persona installment (Dec. 9 – a.k.a. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4) – a PS2 exclusive game. Eternal Poison (Nov. 11), another PS2 exclusive, features more RPG action plus a bonus CD of the game’s musical score.

Movie related titles include the animated Tale of Despereaux (Dec. 2) and Bolt (Nov. 18). On November 4, gamers can find Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and James Bond 007 in Quantum of Solace.

Sports games include Shaun White Snowboarding (Nov. 16), PES 2009: Pro Evolution Soccer (Nov. 11), NCAA Basketball 09 (Dec. 2), WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2009 (Nov. 9), FIFA Soccer 09 (Oct. 14), and NHL 09 (Oct. 20). Basketball fans will have no shortage of game option on October 7 with NBA Live 09, NBA 2K9, and NBA ‘09: The Inside. Warm up this winter with Ski and Shoot and Winter Sports 2 – The Next Challenge on November 11 or try your hand at bull riding with PBR: Out of the Chute (Oct. 28).

Racing games include Speed Racer, Need for Speed Undercover (Nov. 17), Yamaha Supercross (Nov. 25) and Nitrobike (Oct. 7). On October 28, players can choose among Monster Jam: Urban Assault, MotoGP 08 and SBK-08: Superbike World Championship '08.

Upcoming games for younger players include Goosebumps Horror Land (Oct. 14), Avatar: The Last Airbender – Into the Inferno (Oct. 13), Bratz: Girlz Really Rock! (Oct. 13), SpongeBob SquarePants Featuring Nicktoons: Globs of Doom (Oct. 20). Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess and Go, Diego, Go! Great Dinosaur Rescue both release on October 27.
