Pics is an abbreviation for the word “pictures,” which are two-dimensional graphic representations of scenes, people, or objects. Pictures can take the form of photographs, paintings, computer-generated artwork, and many others. Pics, when viewed or accessed using computers and/or the internet, are often available in JPEG, PNG or GIF file formats.

Pics are often searched for on the internet. Sometimes these searches are for clipart items for personal web pages. Other times these searches are for celebrity pics or other pics of interest because, as the saying go, a picture – or pic – can be worth 1,000 words.

Pics can also refer to pornographic images, which flood the internet. In addition, Pics have been used to transmit computer viruses when computer programmers alter JPG, PNG, GIF, or other image files to include the dangerous code.
