North Pole Times

The online journal of the North Pole: for cyber-kids and true believers. The most immediate concern is a crisis concerning Santa having some spacecraft issues:

On Thanksgiving, Santa Claus and Waldo Elf were blasted into orbit aboard The Santa Shuttle, an unfinished spaceship. Although Santa and Waldo are safe, they don’t have any way to land. Santa is able to communicate with folks at the North Pole using his Wow-wee-whipper-do computer. Today, we got an email message from Waldo!…

Various other elves check in on a variety of issues:

Santa Spotters Needed! – Published Saturday December 07, 2002

Elves Discuss Options – Published Friday December 06, 2002
The day after Santa emailed the world from the Santa Shuttle, a debate raged among Elves at the North Pole. The center of the discussion: Can the Elves build a rescue rocket AND continue to make toys at the same time?

    “I’m Doing Fine!” – Published Thursday December 05, 2002
(Editors note: The following is a message from Santa, sent by email to the readers of The North Pole Times, while he is in orbit around the Earth on the Santa Shuttle)

Santa Makes Contact! – Published Wednesday December 04, 2002
Even though Santa has been in orbit since Thanksgiving, he has been regularly checking in with children around the world. Santa had his wow-wee-whipper-doo laptop with him when he and Waldo Elf were accidentally launched into space on the Santa Shuttle.

Wacky Waldo Rides Rocket! – Published Tuesday December 03, 2002
The silliest elf to ever wear curl-toed shoes is in orbit with Santa Claus. Through a head count and deduction, it was discovered that Waldo Elf was with Santa on Thanksgiving when the unfinished rocket was launched into space.

Mystery Elf Discovered? – Published Monday December 02, 2002
While some elves at the North Pole discuss the best way to get Santa back to earth (see yesterday’s story for details), other elves are trying to discover the identity of the elf who blasted off with Santa on Thanksgiving.

Santa hasn’t needed this much help since the promotion of Rudolf to the sleigh team.

Plenty of crafts and recipes and other holiday activities on the site as well.

Theater Review (NYC): ‘Salome’ by Oscar Wilde

This fine new production uses an admirable new translation from the French that stays close to the original, giving us Wilde indeed, flaws and all.
