“No Liza, they said ‘break a LEG'”

Liza Minnelli spazzes, breaks kneecap in Italy, but THE SHOW MUST GO ON:

Singer Liza Minnelli broke her right kneecap in a fall in Italy but still plans to sing at a charity concert for Iraqi refugees with tenor Luciano Pavarotti, a spokeswoman said on Monday.

Minnelli tripped on a step in northern Bologna as she was leaving her hotel on Sunday night and was taken to hospital where her leg was set in plaster, Pavarotti’s spokeswoman Terri Robson said.

“She remains in hospital, but the show will go on,” Robson said.

“She will leave hospital tomorrow evening to sing ‘New York, New York’ in a duet with Pavarotti. After the concert, she will return to hospital to undergo a knee operation.”

Pavarotti said: “Liza is a brave, brave lady. I can’t say how indebted I am that this great artist will come to perform at our charity show tomorrow evening, after suffering such a painful fall.” [Reuters]

She won’t feel a thing.
