Music News: Sacramento Radio 94.7 Finalizes Lineup of 2nd Annual City of Trees Summer Concert Event

City of Trees 2016Sacramento’s indie music radio station Radio 94.7 is an all go-ahead with its 2nd annual City of Trees Summer Concert Event. Taking place a month later than last year and hopefully a few temperature degrees cooler on Saturday September 10, the daylong indie music festival also moves to Bonney Field at the Cal Expo.

Given last year’s traffic and parking issues at Gibson Ranch, organizers pushed for a venue that could efficiently support thousands of people getting to and from the event (i.e., freeway access) and parking legally. They settled on Cal Expo given the venue’s history as host to the annual California State Fair.

What didn’t change was the stance on additional festival fees. Once again, there will be no ticket service fees and no parking fees – much applause – thanks in part to sponsor Budweiser. So the advertised $54.50 for a single general admission ticket, which is still available for purchase, is all that it will cost unless you are one of the lucky listeners during the numerous ticket giveaways.

Unfortunately, all VIP tickets are sold out.

For months, Radio 94.7 teased that the event’s main acts were indie gods Weezer, Panic! at the Disco, Phantogram, and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, but let listeners help decide on the remaining acts. The votes were tallied, decisions made, and inquiries answered. The remaining acts will be:

  • The Struts
  • 888
  • The Unlikely Candidates
  • Weathers
  • The Rebel Llight
  • Kungs (DJ set)
  • Arden Park Roots
  • The Color Wild
  • Cemetery Sun
  • Young Aundee
  • Trophii
  • Zephyr
  • Druskee
  • Joy and Madness
  • Pacific Madness
  • Joseph One
  • DJ Oasis

Given the new venue’s expansive grounds (also used as the home field for the local major soccer team Sacramento Republic FC), Radio 94.7 decided to also expand the music roster for the all-ages event. Personally, as long as the weather is a little bit cooler than the triple-digit heat of last year’s event, this year’s music festivity looks to be even more fun and head-pounding.
