Bruno Mars and Maroon 5 are number one this week...

Maroon 5, Glee, Santana, John Legend Make Impact At iTunes Music Store

I suppose the big story in this week’s chart is the return of Fox’s hit television series Glee as two singles from that show are in the Top 10 this week.  The Gleeks have clearly not lost their enthusiasm for the cultural phenomenon and we should expect to see the singles and albums from the program continue making their presence felt at iTunes as well as other music retail outlets, digital and traditional alike.

On the album front, Maroon 5 gets a #1 debut, followed by Zac Brown Band’s You Get What You Give.  We also have new music from John Legend in the Top 5 and Blogcritics writer Clayton Perry recently interviewed the hitmaker.  Guitar legend Santana’s reinterpretation of the songs of other guitar legends also had a strong first-week showing, perhaps helped by his appearance on another hit TV show, Dancing With The Stars.  How do I know about that?  The Wife To Whom I’m Married has finally fallen under the DWTS spell.  It was around that time I experienced souldeath.  Souldeath will be repeated in my humble abode when I am forced, against my will, to purchase the new Selena Gomez CD for my beautiful niece for her (*sniff sniff*) 10th birthday party later this month.  Gomez’s album comes in at #9 this week.

Here are the iTunes’ top 10 selling singles and albums of the week ending Sept. 27, 2010, yours if you want them:
