Mark Knopfler Announces 2010 Get Lucky World Tour

Mark Knopfler has announced dates for the Get Lucky world tour.  The former Dire Straits frontman released his seventh studio album on Tuesday and is already selling tickets for his tour, the majority of which will take place in 2010.

Knopfler has one date for 2009 booked, an appearance at Bush Hall in London.  The tour then kicks off in Seattle on April 8, 2010.  Knopfler will spend all of April and the early part of May touring the US and Canada before returning to play Europe.

Fans who have signed up for the free newsletter from his web site are eligible for presale tickets.  Some of those presales have already begun with others still to come.  According to the newsletter, further dates could still be added.

Fans in the Southern part of the U.S.  certainly hope a few more dates will be added, as St. Louis is the furthest south he's currently slated to play.  Atlanta and Nashville were both stops on his Kill To Get Crimson album but neither currently have shows.  Yet.  Fingers crossed.

Among the highlights of the announced shows is his planned residency at Royal Albert Hall in London.  Six shows are planned, beginning in late May and running through the first week of June.  If no one else has suggested it, allow me:  live album!  Let's hope there is a camera crew to film this run.  A live CD/DVD package is a must.  Knopfler has only released one live album as a solo artist, commemorating his collaboration with the great Emmylou Harris.  It's time for a proper live package.
