Legacy of Fear

My super cool friend Randy Haecker is the publicist for Sony Legacy, the Columbia and Epic reissues label. He has the privilege of publicizing and promoting the greatest single body of recorded popular music on earth. He also likes scary movies.

Here’s his Top 10 list:

Scrolling through the links at blogcritics.org, I couldn’t help but notice all the entries for “10 Scariest Movies of All Time.” With that in mind, I thought I would offer my own list. I’ve seen A LOT of spooky movies in my time but these are the ten that never fail to make my flesh crawl (if I ever dare watch them again!).

For more info on these films (some are obscure) visit allmovies.com.

    1. “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (original, of course)
    2. “Jaws”
    3. “In A Glass Cage”
    4. “Alien”
    5. “The Exorcist”
    6. “The Wicker Man”
    7. “Suspiria”
    8. “The Blood on Satan’s Claw”
    9. “Halloween”
    10. “The Bird With The Crystal Plumage”

And for sheer creepiness (minus any gore or violence) I’ll go with “The Haunting” (the original directed by Robert Wise) and “The Innocents” (with Deborah Kerr). Oh! And “John Carpenter’s The Thing” would rank at #11.

Thanks Randy, this one does go to 11.
