kelly clarkson

Kelly Clarkson was catapulted into the pop music spotlight after winning the first season of American Idol in 2002. The singer and songwriter was born in Fort Worth, Texas and introduced to singing through her high school's choir teacher.

Following her American Idol win, she starred in the much panned movie From Justin to Kelly with Justin Guarini—that season's runner up. She's also had several small television parts as well as onscreen mentions on TV shows and movies. It has, however, been the music that has kept her in the public eye, with each of her first three albums doing remarkably well. But it was with that third album that she piqued the interest of the blogosphere and celebrity gossip media when she was vocal about her pleasure of being out from under American Idol contract and her desire to set her own image.

As of 2008, she's been nominated for four Grammy awards and won two. She's also been bestowed with 3 MTV Video Music Awards, Five Teen Choice Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards, and three American Music Awards.
